About Us
All serious male
tournament amateur golfers are you ready! Introducing AMATOUR
HAWAII! This is what you have been asking for and wishing
for. We would like you to be a part of this exciting new
venue.
The tour will make a
commitment to be dynamic, and implement new ideas and services for the
betterment of the tour, its players, and associates. Hopefully
this will allow the tour to remain fresh and create a unique environment
for everyone. The Tour was created souly to stimulate men's amateur
tournament golf in Hawaii. As participants will find, there are
some new and exciting things that we are trying to bring to
tournament golf.
Here is a little peek into the 2002
season:
All qualifying players will receive their 2002
inaugural tour badge (silver money type clip) that they must wear on them
during tournament play. All qualifying players will receive
statistics on their golf games throughout the season. Two updated
leader boards on the course and one main leader board at the club
house. Four days straight of some form of television coverage by
K-5. There will be over $1800 in gift certificates at each
tournament including the qualifying event.
Eligibility All male amateur golfers must have a valid
driver’s license. (In order to speed up play we are requiring players to
ride.)
Organized Amateur Competition The tour will be
run with the highest possible standards and the relentless effort to
provide the playing field with a top quality tour and tournament
environment. All participants will compete with no
handicaps. Participation in the tour will help you improve your
game by way of competition and valuable statistical information.
The tour will provide statistical data on each player for each
event.
Convenient
Schedules All tournaments
will be a 36 hole event held on a Saturday and a Sunday. In
addition, all series tournaments following the inaugural qualifying
tournament will have no cut . All exempt players will be
guaranteed a tee time for both days. However, like any other tournament,
first round scores will determine tee times for Sunday.
Internet We will
use the internet as the primary vehicle to convey information to the
players and fans. The URL is amatourhawaii.com.
Tour Player
Status A qualifying
tournament will kick-off the tour and be referred to thereafter as
“Q-school”. The tour will accept the top 60 male qualifiers and
ties (which will be referred to as “Exempt Player”). Players who
qualify will get the inaugural tour badge. A series of six
tournaments will then commence and only exempt players will be able to
participate in each series tournament. The tour committee will
make exceptions under certain circumstances only.
Alternates If you
do not qualify in the inaugural qualifying tournament, then you have to
try again next year. The only other way to become an exempt player
is, if you are called by the committee to fill a spot in a series
tournament for a current exempt player. The tour committee will
start from the 61st place of the qualifying tournament and
work upwards (62,63,64…). If you are called and are able to fill
the spot, you will automatically become an exempt tour player for the
current season. You will receive your tour badge and will be able
to participate in the remaining tournaments in the season.
Scoreboard We will
have one professional scoreboard as well as two updated scoreboards on
the course.
Prizes and
Points Exempt players
will be able to win gift certificates up to $500. At the same
time, they will accumulate points in each series tournament based on
where they finish. The player with the most points for the current
year will be crowned the “Player of the Year”. Prizes- A
tiebreaker (compare scorecards from 1st hole, Second Round) will be used
to determine prize breakdown. Points - In the event of a tie, points
will be added and divided among players. Ex. 3 players tied for 3rd, Add
3rd, 4th, 5th place points and divide by 3.
End of the Season
Banquet Soon after the
completion of the Final Series Tournament we will have an awards
banquet. We will recognize the “Player of the Year”, statistical leaders
in every category, sponsors, and the top 30% in the tour who will be
exempt the following season.
Pace of Play
In the last two tournaments, the pace of
play has been an issue. In order to be fair to other players in
your foursome, as well as the other players behind you, you must keep up
with the group in front of you. Not only does it not allow groups
to complete their rounds, it also is a bad reflection of the tour
itself. For the remaining events the pace of play rule will be in
effect. If you fall out of position, (meaning one hole behind or
more) you have one hole to catch up or the whole group will be penalized
one stroke. If your group
is falling behind you will be placed on the clock. Each player
will have 35 seconds to complete their shot when it is their
turn. You will
receive one warning
First offense: one stroke penalty
Second offense: two stroke penalty
Third offense: disqualification
Etiquette
Please read page 1 – 2 of your rule books
Just a few tips on etiquette:
Rake all bunkers,
Repair divots,
